the sh!t we deal with
Pellows are a Cornwall waste services company, and their tankers keep the county’s septic tanks emptied. But according to BBC News, the number of sites where septic tank companies can unload waste across Cornwall and Devon had fallen from 12 to five.
They had a serious problem, a modest budget and a story that needed telling. We set out to get it heard.

Real numbers for this client. Every business is different and we don't promise results; they're a by-product of posting regularly and consistently.
what we did differently
We sat Pellows director Anthony Martin and John Brown of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce on a pair of toilets and let them talk. The Sh!t We Deal With is an interview series that says the quiet bit out loud: disposal sites are running out. Then we pulled out the most provocative moments and shared them as short clips across Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram over three months, alongside straight-talking static posts like “Cornwall and Devon sewage crisis - We need change now!”
how it turned out
On Facebook alone it brought 495,062 views, 10,917 page visits, 5,246 interactions and 934 new followers, and one static post from 24 October 2025 reached 82,591 views. Then the media picked it up: Cornwall Live ran “Cornwall is full of sewage and now it has to be taken 250 miles away”, and BBC News followed on 13 November 2025 with “Tanker drivers ‘face 300-mile trip to empty waste’”. Six MPs lobbied DEFRA, the Minister for Water and Flooding called a meeting, and South West Water changed how it operates. And on Thursday 22 October 2026, we won Best Low Budget Campaign at the UK Social Media Awards.
